Minimum web standards
Any website that falls within the UW–Madison brand hierarchy must meet certain minimum style standards by including:
- The words "University of Wisconsin–Madison" located in the top banner area
- The UW–Madison logo in the footer area
- A link to the UW–Madison home page
- A link to the school, college, or division in which a unit resides, if applicable
- The following standard footer information:
- Copyright statement: © [current year] The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System
- The e-mail address of the person responsible for maintaining the page and responding to user feedback: Feedback, questions or accessibility issues: webmaster@yourwebsite.wisc.edu.
- The date the page was last updated: Last updated: January 6, 2011 — unless it is clear from the content on the page itself that the page is current
Academic departments are also encouraged to include:
- Information for prospective students, including links to the Office of Admissions and Recuitment and the Office of Graduate Admissions
- Information distinguishing undergraduate program offerings (if applicable)
- Links to your department’s sections of the undergraduate and graduate catalogs
In addition to these standards, all web publishers should comply with established campus information technology policies, including accessible design.
