Classified:

Instructions on placing classified ads for job vacancies are available at the Office for Human Resources (OHR). A special newsprint–compatible version of the UW–Madison logo for use in classified ads, as well as examples of ad placement, are available at Logo and graphic identity guidelines: Ad placement.

Display:

Display advertising should include the UW–Madison logo. Graphic identity guidelines and multiple versions of the UW–Madison logo can be found at site About the logo and graphic identity guidelines. Please note that the university has formal policies in place that govern the use of advertising, commercial use, gifts, sponsorships, and the use of university marks. It is suggested that you review these policies before placing advertisements. For more information, see the Office of Administrative Legal Services.

Banners

There is a specific approval process for banners on campus. Banners are typically approved for temporary two–week installations that are for special one–time events. Visit University Facility Use Policies and Guidelines for more information. The banners displayed on Bascom Hill and Bascom Hall are produced and scheduled by University Communications.

Banners are not permitted on the pedestrian bridges over University Avenue and Park Street.

Banners displayed on the Alicia Ashman Pedestrian Bridge over Campus Drive require approval from the City Clerk’s Office, City of Madison.

Campus map

Campus map resources include a new interactive online campus map (requires Flash), as well as a printable campus map.

Signage

Campus signage is managed by the Physical Plant. Call 265-3510, or visit Facilities Planning and Management for more information.

Sponsorship and Trademarks

The Office of Trademark Licensing oversees the use of UW–Madison logos and trademarks. Revenue from sales of Bucky window decals, Badger water bottles, “W” hats, Wisconsin sweaters and other officially trademarked items raise finds for the university. The licensing program generated just over $1.6 million in royalties in 2005. Information and policies on trademarks, licensing and sponsorship can be found at the Office of Trademark Licensing.

Note: The symbols “” and “®” should not used in narratives or running text, nor can they be used interchangeably.

Use of campus facilities

Central Reservations and Conference Services maintain a list of university facility use policies and guidelines.
