Are you an eligible voter?

If you are a U.S. citizen, will be 18 years of age on or before Election Day, and have been a resident of Wisconsin for at least 10 days prior to registering, you are eligible to vote.
There are a number of ways to register and vote. You may register in advance in person or by mail with the Madison City Clerk, or on Election Day at your polling place. If you are a registered voter, you may also request an absentee ballot.

Or, during business hours, visit the Clerk's Office in Room 103, City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, the polls will be open in Madison from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
You can register at the polls
Persons who register or change their address at the polls on election day must present proof of residence or a registered voter who will attest that they know you and know that you have resided at your address for at least ten days prior to the election.
Please note: If you have ever been issued a Wisconsin driver's license, you must supply your driver's license number on your registration form. If you have not been issued a Wisconsin driver's license, you must provide the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number or your Wisconsin state ID card number.
Any of the following may be used as proof of residence if it contains the address of residence:
- For students living in University Housing, a UW-Madison ID card with a photograph of the cardholder .
- A current and valid Wisconsin driver’s license or Wisconsin identification card.
- Any other official identification card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit
- An identification card issued by an employer in the normal course of business, which has a photograph of the cardholder, but not a business card.
- A real estate tax bill or receipt for the current year or the year preceding the date of the election.
- A residential lease.
- A utility bill for the period commencing not earlier than 90 days before the election.
- A bank statement.
- A paycheck.
- A check or other document issued by a unit of government.

The location of your polling place is determined by your address. If you live off campus, log on to the city of Madison’s listing of polling locations and type in your address to find your polling place.
The following polling places serve those living in University Housing:
If you live in: in Adams, Barnard, Chadbourne, Elizabeth Waters, Slichter or Tripp halls
Your polling place is: UW Memorial Union, Tripp Commons, second floor.
If you live in: Bradley, Cole, Humphrey, Jorns, Kronshage or Sullivan halls
Your polling place is: Holt Commons, lower-level cafeteria.
If you live in: Sellery or Witte halls
Your polling place is: Gordon Commons, west end of commons.
If you live in: Ogg or Newell J. Smith halls
Your polling place is: Madison Metropolitan School District’s Doyle Administration Building, 545 W. Dayton St. (just east of the Kohl Center).
If you live in: Zoe Bayliss Co-op, Merit House or Susan B. Davis
Your polling place is: Porchlight, 306 N. Brooks St., dining room.
If you live in: Newell J. Smith Hall
Your polling place is: Madison Metropolitan School District’s Doyle Administration Building, 545 W. Dayton St. (just east of the Kohl Center).
If you live in: Eagle Heights or University Houses
Your polling place is: Eagle Heights Community Center, 611 Eagle Heights, Room 101.
If you live in: Harvey Street Apartments
Your polling place is: Room 17, Hoyt School, 3802 Regent St.
